There is nothing like a national or local emergency that brings out the bottom feeding narcissists who are known for their selfish hoarding during times of need

If you want to see which neighbors are completely wrapped up into themselves, without any regard for the other members of their community, just visit a grocery, pharmacy or an outlet such as Walmart. You will either see empty shelves (meaning you missed their earlier visit) or you will see them at the register looking like they are buying supplies for a huge public event.

There are several types of hoarders. There are the hoarders who hoard everything and they are mentally ill. Then there are the hoarders who show up during any emergency or even threat of an emergency that hasn’t even happened yet. These are the narcissists who care about no one but themselves. God forbid they take 1 item and leave another item on the shelves for another family in need of the essentials. During a hurricane or a winter storm etc. they hoard all the milk. bread and water they can get their hands on and during a threat of a longer term isolation, like the coronavirus pandemic, then it is sanitizers and toilet paper and all canned and frozen foods they can afford.

It’s hard not to despise these people but such disregard for others is not only the height of selfishness but it shows actual disdain for those who are in most need during any emergency: the elderly, who cannot make countless visits to every store in their search for necessities. They are the most vulnerable and are probably the ones that are in much greater need of these items than the one’s who are hoarding away enough of these things to take care of 10 families.

But then narcissists are diabolic in nature and they really do not have any love for anyone; not even themselves. They only enjoy being the one’s who win and they are happy when they see others actually lose out. It would not surprise me if they brag about their “prudent” actions when they hear of others who are dying because of the lack of the very items that they helped make unavailable to others.

I find it hard to understand these people or have any sympathy for them . . . their callousness is deserving of scorn by the rest of the community. They are a disgusting lot and they are the ones who will brawl to the death for an item on the shelf that they personally want. The lowest of the low.
